Google Inc has introduced a new feature that will allow consumers to use its Google Voice service without switching to a special phone number, potentially broadening the appeal of the nascent, and controversial, service.
Google said late Monday that new users of its service will be able to have the calls that they don't answer forwarded to a special Google Voice electronic mailbox, essentially bypassing the voicemail provided by their phone carriers.

Excited Mexicans clutching buckets of popcorn and soft drinks in cinemas ducked whenever the ball was kicked toward them as they watched Sunday's big game between America and Guadalajara in 3D.
At the packed Azteca, thousands more had a more traditional view of the match between the country's two most popular teams which finished with a 1-0 victory to America after an early goal by Colombian Aquivaldo Mosquera.
"It was incredible," said 25-year-old Claudia Fernandez. "I'd already seen films in this format, but watch a football match, never, and I don't regret it because it's much more exciting."

The amazing eyes of a giant shrimp living on Australia's Great Barrier Reef could hold the key to developing a new type of super high-quality DVD player, British scientists said on Sunday.
Mantis shrimps, dubbed "thumb splitters" by divers because of their vicious claws, have the most complex eyes in the animal kingdom.
They can see in 12 primary colors, four times as many as humans, and can also detect different kinds of light polarization -- the direction of oscillation in light waves.
Now a team at the University of Bristol have shown how the shrimps do it, using remarkable light-sensitive cells that rotate the plane of polarization in light as it travels through the eye.

Windows 7 is here and not a moment too soon. Microsoft's two-and-a-half year old operating system is a dog, and will hopefully be put to pasture. After many years of development, Windows 7 shipped October 22, and after a full day of using Windows 7 Professional, I have to admit I am really liking what I have seen so far. Windows 7 is a more elegant operating system that does away with a lot of the complaints that Vista was an OS that acted like an overcautious granny. Read on for some nifty new features.
